Venturing's purpose is to provide experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Venture members are ready to explore the meaning of interdependence in their personal relationships and in their communities.

Venturing is for young men and women who are 14 or have completed the 8th grade and not yet 21.  Its purpose is to provide positive experiences to help youth mature and to prepare them to become responsible adults.  Sea Scouting is a sub-division of Venturing focused on nautical activites
