Michigan International Camporee

MIClogo

The Chief Okemos Council’s fifth Michigan International Camporee will be held from Sunday, July 22, to Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Northwoods Scout Reservation near West Branch. Approximately 200 Scouts, 50 leaders, and 60 staff members from over 20 countries outside the USA and Canada will join with Scouts, Venturers, leaders, and staff members from Michigan, from many other parts of the USA, and from Canada, in what has become the largest council-run multinational Scouting event in North America. To learn more about the MIC, visit http://www.micamporee.org, scroll down past the slideshow, and follow the links on the left.

MIC 2012 host unit spaces are now full, but there are still opportunities:

  • For individual Chief Okemos Council Scouts and Venturers who meet the MIC participant qualifications to contact nearby host troops and crews to see if they have space. Go to the web site, scroll down past the slideshow, and link at PARTICIPATING CONTINGENTS to see who the host units are.

  • For Chief Okemos Council volunteers to apply to serve in a variety of positions on the MIC 2012 staff. One of the ways the MIC has kept the cost for our Scouts and Venturers to participate in this world jamboree type experience so low is by using an entirely volunteer staff, with each staff member, U.S. and international, paying a $100 fee to cover his/her food, housing, and camporee identity items. A number of key MIC 2012 staff positions still need to be filled. To learn more or to apply, go to the MIC web site, link at INFORMATION/APPLICATIONS, then scroll down to the Further information and application for an MIC 2012 Staff Position link.

  • For Chief Okemos Council families, packs, troops, and crews to attend the Tuesday evening, July 17, performances by our MIC 2012 international contingents at the Lake Lansing South Park bandshell in Haslett. Watch for more information on the MIC web site and in SIGNALS.

  • For Chief Okemos Council families, packs, troops, and crews to come to Northwoods for the Saturday, July 28, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM MIC 2012 International Festival Day and Visitors Day. To see Visitors Day photos from MIC 2008, go to the MIC web site, link at PHOTOS BY CATEGORY, and scroll down to International Festival Day. Watch for more information on the MIC web site and in SIGNALS.
