July 15-24, 2013

The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve, West Virginia

Who’s Ready to GO BIG, GET WILD?!!! On behalf of the Chief Okemos Council, we are pleased to announce that Bryan Holland and Julia Copenhaver have been selected to lead our council Contingent to the 2013 National Jamboree. Bryan will serve as the Jamboree Troop Scoutmaster and with 3 assistant Scoutmasters will lead 36 boys. Julia will serve as Jamboree Venturing Advisor and with 1 associate Advisor will guide 8 young men and women. Slots for 36 Boy Scouts and 8 Venturers are available on a first come, first serve basis. Mackinac Island Service Camp

Scouts from the Chief Okemos Council are invited to participate as the Governor's Honor Guard and Fort Mackinac Guides from July 21-28 2012.    Applications for the 56 Scout and 10 leader positions are currently being accepted.  For more information please see the website of the host troop, Troop 111.

 

Michigan International Camporee

2012 MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL CAMPOREE

Every four years, the Chief Okemos Council hosts an event that is unlike any other Scouting event in North America, a Michigan International Camporee.  Over 1/3 of the Scouts at a Michigan International Camporee come from outside of North America.  No other Scouting event in North America comes even close to that percentage.  This is a unique opportunity for Chief Okemos Scouts and Venturers to meet and get to know Scouts from all over the world.  Read the full article here
